People truly get crazy about their loose teeth, whether it is by tying a string to a doorknob or doing something even more bizarre. Children can become very delighted if their families believe in the tooth fairy.
However, you don’t want to remove any perfectly functional, healthy teeth from a child’s mouth. Who would commit such a terrible act? However, a lady was detained in a nearby Walmart after others heard her son screaming.
Police claim that on April 2, 2019, Jeannine Cherilynn Isom purchased needle-nose pliers and hand sanitizer. She then brought her seven-year-old son into the bathroom and extracted his teeth there, using the needle nose pliers to extract both teeth.
“When she proceeded to extract them, they didn’t come out in one whole piece. There were multiple pieces. So that illustrates that they were still very attached to this child’s mouth,” Police said.
When they heard the boy’s cries coming from the bathroom, the boy’s older brother and a Walmart employee rushed to save him.
Although she claims the teeth were loose and infected, she did not use any anesthetics. The fact that it took disproportionate force to extract them runs counter to this. The teeth were broken into bits and her toddler was sobbing in anguish when she managed to get them out.
Isom was charged with one count of child abuse, which is a second-degree crime, as the police department in American Fork, Utah, described her acts as “child abuse in its purest form.”
“It wasn’t just a parent trying to get rid of a kid’s lose tooth,” Deputy Utah County, Utah, Attorney Christine Scott said, “This clearly rose above that and that is what made it criminal — and not something parents do when they are just trying to help their kid lose their baby teeth.”
