Her ‘Lewd’ Top Caused A Massive Fight While In Flight…

A Southwest passenger woman was forced to wear the pilot shirt after the plane low cut top outfit was deemed ‘offensive’ by staff.  The woman documented the incident with a series of tweets and videos.

As Kayla Eubanks was about to board a Southwest Airlines flight on Tuesday, she claims an employee stopped her and told her she was violating the airline’s “dress code” and was not able to do so. Eubanks documented the incident with a series of tweets and videos.

In a detailed thread on Twitter, Kayla Eubanks shared with her followers the events she said took place at LaGuardia Airport on Oct. 6 as she attempted to make her way from New York to Chicago while wearing a black halter top.

Eubanks’ tweeted including a photo of the “attire in question:”

“Y’all I was KICKED OFF my @SouthwestAir flight because my boobs are ‘lewd, obscene and offensive.’ I was told that passengers may look at me in my attire and be offended.”

She continued, explaining why she had a problem:

“I really wanna know why @SouthwestAir is policing my clothes like this,” Eubanks wrote in another tweet. “How will my shirt impact my flight, for myself, the other passengers or even the pilot?” she asked. “Y’all have a dress code for CUSTOMERS who pay to get on a plane? It’s the constant policing of women’s bodies for me.”

Eubanks recorded as an employee searched for the “dress code policy” the airline was trying to enforce. In the video, Eubanks says she waited for 20 minutes while the employee looked for the policy.

“If it’s there, why can’t y’all find it?” she says. “If it’s there, why don’t y’all know it?”

The employee can be heard telling a co-worker to “close the plane in three minutes” and then offers to get Eubanks on a different flight if she chooses not to comply with the rules.

Eubanks explained on Twitter that the only people who gave her any flack about her clothing were employees.

She tweeted:

“I kid y’all not, from the moment I stepped into my departing airport, to the duration of the flight, and even after I landed, I was harassed. Not by passengers, but by Southwest employees. Half of the employees were complimenting me & the other half was asking where my shirt was.”

After the incident went viral, with Southwest being lambasted for “forcing” the captain to lend the passenger his T-shirt, a spokesperson said the airline had “reached out to [Kayla Eubanks] directly to apologize for her experience and provided a refund of her fare as a gesture of goodwill.”

In an email, the airline representative added, “Regarding our policies, each situation is very different, and our employees are responsible for following our Contract of Carriage, available on our website.” Of course, that didn’t sit well with some.

The Newyork Post explained:

“According to the material posted online, the company ‘may, in its sole discretion, refuse to transport, or may remove from an aircraft at any point,’ a passenger who engages ‘in lewd, obscene or patently offensive behavior, including wearing clothes that are lewd, obscene or patently offensive.’”

Of course, this incident only led to further debate over dress codes. There is something else we should all be talking about, though — and that’s the captain’s handling of the incident.
