Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence expressed “great worry” over the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Tuesday. They claimed the Justice Department’s actions reeked of “partisanship.” Pence tweeted, “I share the great alarm of millions of Americans over the unprecedented search of President Trump’s residence.
In American history, he pointed out, “No previous president of the United States has ever been the target of a raid on their property.” After the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Pence and Trump fell out, and he is now rumored to be exploring a bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
The FBI raid, according to Trump, was “weaponized of the Justice System” by “Radical Left Democrats who urgently don’t want me to run for President in 2024,” who has also intimated that he may make another bid for the White House.
“The perception of persistent partisanship by the Justice Department must be addressed,” Pence wrote in a tweet. “After years where FBI agents were discovered operating on political motivation during our administration,” Pence continued.
The former vice president stated, “yesterday’s conduct undermines public faith in our justice system, and Attorney General (Merrick) Garland must promptly offer a complete accounting to the American people as to why this action was done.”
Multiple media outlets reported that federal agents were conducting a court-authorized search at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in connection with the alleged improper handling of classified documents sent there after Trump left the White House in January 2021. The FBI has declined to give a reason for the raid.
