Dogs have been man’s closest friend since the dawn of time, leaving their mark on the planet, with their amazingly diverse breed; there sure is a dog perfect for every responsible pet owner.

And speaking of tiny, for those who do not have a lot of space at their home! Chihuahuas is very perfect for your family.

But don’t let their small size fool you. Despite being the smallest breed of dog, they have stronger strength than their size. Chihuahuas are among the smallest dogs in the dog family, yet they have the most brains, making them exceptionally trainable. Additionally, they have a reputation for being fierce and are among the breeds that are most hostile toward humans; for this reason, it is best to socialize them with both other people and animals from an early age.

Dogs like Chihuahuas typically give birth to 4-5 pups, but life is full of unexpected twists and turns. After all, one small yet mighty mama gave birth to many little bundles of joy!

This happened eight years ago. Coco is a Chihuahua who is a precious member of Dawn and Bill Slater’s family. Coco’s pups would sure make an adorable addition to their growing family. Similar to people, dogs must also have regular prenatal exams to ensure the wellbeing of the mother dog and her puppies.

The pair also worried about Coco’s ability to deliver her babies safely due to her enormous tummy. They took Coco to her veterinarian for a normal checkup to allay their worries.

They discovered that Coco was expecting five pups at the time, and that she was in excellent condition to give birth.

The devoted couple returned to their home and began preparing for Coco’s birth after realizing they have nothing to be concerned about. And when the big day finally arrived, Dawn and Bill are more than excited to meet the five babies that will be joining their family.

However, when the fifth puppy was born, the owners discovered the veterinarian had been mistaken and that Coco wouldn’t give birth to just five pups!

No, a sixth was definitely on the way. And amazingly enough, Coco just didn’t stop. Bill said,

“When we got to the ninth pup he wasn’t well, his bag had burst and we were trying to revive him. We thought to ourselves, this is just impossible, when on earth is it going to stop, when the tenth came out.”

Dawn and Bill’s main worry was that complications could arise from such a difficult birth. After all, any dog could find ten babies to be dangerous.

Fortunately, Coco appeared to have survived the experience just fine, and all 11 pups appeared to be in fantastic health. The incredible achievement of Coco is now listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as well! For dogs, the record litter is 24, although Coco has the most chihuahuas at 11.

A report on Coco and her record-breaking litter was published by Inside Edition:

“All moms deserve awards, but this one can proudly say she’s a world record holder after having 11 puppies, a world record for the most puppies born to a Chihuahua. She gave birth to the pups on National Puppy Day, making the sweet announcement even sweeter. This comes after their 1.5-year-old mama was rescued from a hoarding situation. The 12-hour labor was a big surprise to her foster family.”
