There are no limits to the hatred and hypocrisy of political operators. However, they should anticipate resistance when they attack a man’s loved ones for political gain.
Former President Trump fired out at Judge Arthur Engoron, the New York Democrat presiding over the Star Chamber show trial disguised as a fraud case, early on Wednesday morning on Truth Social.
“Leave my children alone, Engoron. You are a disgrace to the legal profession!” Trump wrote at the end of a lengthy post.
New York Attorney General Letitia James is so set on bringing down the former president that she filed a “fraud” prosecution in which there are, as Trump pointed out, no victims other than the Trump family.
In that lawsuit, when James claimed Trump misrepresented the value of his assets to increase his wealth, Trump’s vast Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, was arbitrarily and humorously appraised by Engoron at only $18 million.
The children of the previous president will have to speak up now. After all, James should keep up the charade and tarnish as many Trumps as possible.
NBC News reports that Donald Trump Jr. will be called to testify on Wednesday by James’ office. On Thursday, Eric Trump will join his father.
Ivanka Trump will also testify on Friday, although she is not a named defendant in the lawsuit due to a prior judgment by the court of appeals.
Of course, James was not at the outset of this larger persecution directed at Trump’s family.
It should be recalled that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office requested Melania Trump’s White House emails back in June.
The former president has put up a strong front for the public, but according to reports, he is suffering privately.
Melania has been a steady presence amidst all the chaos. “She shares her husband’s view — and anger — that most of these legal issues are ‘election interference by his political rivals,'” the story continues.
In his long Truth Social post, Trump dubbed the present New York trial a “Rigged Trial.” He labeled James a “racist” and characterized Engoron as a “Trump and developer hating judge.”
The previous president can’t possibly find any of this surprising. He has witnessed national-level rigging, after all. He has faced political opponents who were full with hatred and made their animosity personal. He’s up for a battle. In fact, he has been fighting them nonstop for the past eight years—and he does it with a grin on his face, most of the time.
However, attacking his loved ones is a step too far for any guy to take in good spirits.
Of course, his heartless detractors will say that the Trump kids are fair game. They don’t need any special treatment since they’re adults and part of the Trump Organization.
If the whole thing didn’t amount to the sneakiest type of preferential treatment, then yes. Trump’s political opponents have singled him out for special prosecution under the cloak of institutions ostensibly dedicated to seeking justice.
Everyone knows this, even the attorney general and the sitting judge. They justify state-sponsored atrocities with a sense of moral superiority, nevertheless, just as they do in totalitarian regimes.
When these things only affect one person, a guy can handle them.
But as history shows, tyrants are only stopped when the man dies. His loved ones are always the next target.
