New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said he was hospitalized for several days after an “unexpected and unusual medical emergency” involving “a series of unexplained neurological symptoms.” In a statement he posted Nov. 6, 2026, Henderson wrote, “The cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable.”
Statement: ‘Unknown and unexplainable’
Henderson said his condition affected his strength, coordination, and some other physical functions. He said he underwent extensive medical testing and evaluation and will continue working with specialists and physical therapists as he focuses on recovery. “I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health,” he wrote, adding, “My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.”
Faith and thanks
Henderson thanked his wife and explicitly credited his Christian faith. “Most importantly, I want to thank Jesus for giving me a peace that surpasses all understanding,” he wrote. He cited Romans 8:28 and added, “The purpose of trials in life is not to drive us away from God, but to only bring us closer. May God’s Will be done, not mine.”
What we know about his status
Western Journal described Henderson as a 24-year-old in his second season with New England and reported that he and his wife asked for continued prayers and privacy while he recovers. The outlet also noted his on-field production to date, including 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 180 carries in 2025, and 203 rushing yards and one touchdown through six appearances this season.
