In a pair of decisions issued by a New York appellate judge on Friday, former President Donald Trump and his legal team received both good and terrible news.

According to CNN, New York Appeals Court Associate Justice Peter Moulton ordered a temporary stay that prevented the dissolution of a number of Trump-owned firms but declined to dismiss the fraud trial that had brought about the decision in the first place.

That stay may only be in effect for a month, preventing the disintegration of most of Trump’s economic empire.

Trump’s legal team claimed that the firms should not be broken up because it would be too late to alter some of Trump’s acts if he won an appeal against Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision to do so.

Trump’s team hopes that at least some of Engoron’s verdict will be overturned on appeal.

They also hope that some, if not all, of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ case against Trump will be dismissed due to a June appeals court ruling that could be interpreted to mean that many of her accusations were filed after the statute of limitations had expired.

One of Trump’s attorneys, Christoper Kise, said that pursuing action against the corporations before those determinations are completed could hurt 1,000 present employees, if not more.

“Engoron had ordered Trump to propose potential receivers by October 26, which would begin the process of dissolution,” CNN reported.

“[Engoron] clearly does not comprehend the scope of the chaos its decision has wrought,” Trump’s legal team argued in a court filing Friday before Moulton’s decision.

Some of Trump’s and the other defendants’ private houses are really owned by limited liability corporations that could be affected by Engoron’s verdict, which Moulton said puts them at risk of being sold out from under their inhabitants.

Trump’s team had also attempted to postpone the trial in general, but Moulton declined to intercede on that score.

The plaintiffs said that Trump’s counsel was unable “to point to any purported irreparable harm from proceeding with a trial that has already begun.” Moulton, it appears, concurred.

James’ attorneys said that delays in this trial could cause it to clash with other claims against Trump, creating a domino effect that would make scheduling any of them difficult.

“If the trial here is delayed at all, there is a significant risk that defendants will request further delays of trial based on the deadlines in these other cases. Indeed, defendants already appear to be attempting to play one court against the other,” the motion read.

They also said that they offered Trump’s legal team an agreement to postpone the enforcement of the order terminating the business certificates for several of Trump’s companies, but that Trump’s staff refused to discuss it with them.

Another issue weighing against any trial delay, according to James’ team, was all of the additional arrangements the court had to make due to the high profile of the proceedings.

The attorney general’s office noted “special security arrangements outside and inside the courthouse, many additional security and other court personnel to conduct those security arrangements, and special arrangements to ensure access for the press and public,” among the accommodations the court had already had to make.

The entire thing is a farce. NO ONE was hurt or lost money; the only thing the court and AG want is to be able to say they tried Trump.

Everyone in America who owns land believes it is worth more, especially if the property is being sold. It’s how the real estate game is played.

The Palm Beach property appraiser advised the judge not to utilize their appraisal, but the judge disagreed. The Trump in PB would fetch significantly more than the city appraisal.

The judge lacks the necessary qualifications to consider this property dispute.
