The feud between Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump began as early as the first Republican debate — when she led off the questions with a planned, pointed attack on the political newcomer, who attacked her right back…and then some. And it hasn’t let up since.
Kelly has reported receiving online threats against her and her family due to the feud. That may be part of the reason she’s revealed she may not continue with FoxNews after her contract expires next year. In fact one source claims she wants to join CNN.
Via the Washington Times:
Megyn Kelly said she hasn’t decided whether she’s going to stay with the network after her contract expires next year.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Kelly told Variety in an interviewpublished Tuesday. “I’ve had a great 12 years here, and I really like working for Roger Ailes. I really like my show, and I love my team. But you know, there’s a lot of brain damage that comes from the job. There was probably less brain damage when I worked in the afternoon. I was less well known. I had far less conflict in my life.”
Then came up the Trump issue:
“It has not been enjoyable,” she said. “I wish it hadn’t happened. I hope it will stop — his focus on me. If he’s determined not to stop, there’s nothing I can do. I don’t like being the story. I think it raises real First Amendment issues.”
Kind of rich for Ms. Kelly to say she wish it hadn’t happened, when she started it by going hard andpersonal against Trump in the first “question” he was ever asked in a debate last August.
And she hopes he stops? Seriously? Kelly has carried out a months-long obsession with Trump, which even one anti-Trump criticcalled a “jihad against Trump” that “undermined her journalistic credibility.”
Ms. Kelly told Variety that she has felt supported by Fox News, noting that the network “has been in a tough position. They care about me and they are not afraid of a fight, but we’re in uncharted territory.”
She said she’s had “many conversations” with Mr. Ailes about the situation, which has “been hard on him, too.”
In a separate interview with Charlie Rose, Kelly stated that she’d rather not leave Fox News and would like to “add to what [she’s] doing,” but not if it becomes at the expense of time with her family.
buzz off “lady”——you are awful.
That sounds like corporate speak for I’ve been given the door, but allowed to finish out my year to have things look like a resignation to pursue other venues.
