I remember the very first time that I ever held a firearm that fired actual bullets. I was fifteen and was spending the summer with an aunt and uncle in Montana.

I had always expressed an interest in firearms and had told my uncle that I would like to go out to the gun range with him one day and learn how to shoot.

He said sure thing, but he then told me that I was going to have to sit through several hours of what he deemed “extremely boring safety stuff that I had BETTER be paying attention to”.

So we went out to the gun range, and for six hours straight he schooled me on everything a person could possibly learn about handling a weapon.

The thing is, it wasn’t until the last ten or fifteen minutes we were there that he even let me fire one of his pistols.

That several-hour period where he was schooling me on the proper handling and safety when it came to firearms taught me a valuable lesson at that age. These things are tools. No different on a base level than a power drill or a table saw.

If you handle them properly, they are going to serve you well. If you handle them improperly and act like a moron with them; they are going to react accordingly.

I was looking online for something related to shotguns recently and came across a video that just makes me shake my head in surprise that someone could possibly be as stupid as they seem.

This young fella here. If you look at the picture really closely, you will see he is holding a sawed-off shotgun. Now, I may just be a simple guy but I have never seen someone holding a sawed-off shotgun that had legitimate purposes for the weapon they are holding.

For those that have never fired a shotgun with the barrel modified like what you’re seeing here, you have to hold it in a very particular manner. Namely, in a way that isn’t going to hit you in the face.

The kick of a shotgun can be pretty intense. Add to it that this maniac has now shortened the barrel and you have a recipe for disaster.

So of course he decides to hold it six inches in front of his face. God, that must have hurt.

I mean, it isn’t like he had someone he trusted standing right there filming him telling him he’s about to do something ridiculous. Just goes to show you there are some people whose stupidity just cannot be fixed.
