Boeing passenger jet flying from Dubai crashes while landing in Russia KILLING ALL 61 PEOPLE on board

A plane, believed to have missed the runway on approach, crashed in Russia, killing all 61 people aboard.

The FlyDubai Boeing 737-800 from Dubai crashed while landing in the southwestern city of Rostov-on-Don, the country’s Emergency Situations Ministry announced.

It is believed that none of the 55 passengers and six crew members survived.

A source told RIA Novosti that the plane missed its runway by up to 100 meters (328 feet) during rainy landing early Saturday morning local time.

Preliminary reports say that weather may have played a role in the crash, though investigators have not ruled out mistakes by the crew.

Wind speeds at the time reached as high as 22 meters per second, of 49mph, according to TASS.

Data from Flightradar24.com shows that the plane, returning from the United Arab Emirates was supposed to land at 1:20 a.m. It spent more than two hours flying around the city before its failed second attempt before 4 a.m.

Video claiming to be of the moment the vessel hit the ground — which could not be immediately verified — showed the craft hurtling towards the ground before exploding in a fiery blast.

Boeing posted on Twitter late Friday night that they were gathering more details about the incident.

Rostov-on-Don is a city of around 1.1 million people on the Don River.

In 2004 a Siberia Airlines flight from Moscow to the Black Sea city of Sochi crashed in the region around the city, killing 46.
