Recent headlines described professional aerial artist, Sam Panda, being cuffed by police for wearing a thong bikini at the beach.
Apparently, Panda’s thong bikini qualified as indecent exposure, which officers confirmed violated local ordinances.
Following the incident, Panda took to social media to vent about what had happened to her.
The incident was also recorded on video and has since gone viral.
Writing on Facebook, she said: “A woman called the cops on me because of my bikini. That’s how this all started. Some woman decided that my body was offensive to her and showed her child that her body could one day lead to her arrest.
“You have allowed a 105-pound woman to get rushed, aggressively grabbed, manhandled, and cuffed. You allowed two women to be slut-shamed publicly on a beach for their bathing suits.
“And worst of all, you showed your daughter that her body is something she should be ashamed of and could be detained for. You showed her that a man can harm a woman over the way her body is viewed by other people.
The viral video shows cops putting Panda in handcuffs while the cameraman asks the two officers to explain which part of the penal code the woman had violated.
The officers had the group follow them to the patrol car, where they read the penal code.
“It shall be unlawful for any person to appear in the nude on any public beach… or any public property in the view of the public,” one officer said.
Both Panda and the individual filming the video can be heard arguing with the two officers.
“A thong is not nude,” Panda says.
Understandably, Panda was entirely shocked and fearful at the situation, as she had expected to be arrested while enjoying her time at the beach.
And many would probably agree that putting her in handcuffs was a bit excessive.
After all, she was only wearing a thong bikini, not concealing a weapon.
