One of the music industry’s most legendary drummers has died….and how it happened is even more heartbreaking.
Hashian played drums for The legendary rock band ‘Boston’ on the group’s first two records including their 1976 debut album that went 17 times platinum. The self-titled album featured singled “Long Time” and “Peace of Mind” along with their best known hit song “More Than a Feeling.”
Tragedy struck while aboard the Legends of Rock cruise, when 67-year old drummer, Sib Hashian, passed away immediately after collapsing on stage during a performance. According to reports, the drummer was given CPR and treated with a defibrillator, but he could not be resuscitated.
The Legends of Rock cruise began departed Florida on March 18, and was scheduled to make various Caribbean stops including the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. The band and the cruise will go forward as planned..but now they have a little special someone to pay tribute to.
Hashian’s son spoke to media and said that the cause of his father’s death isn’t known but they “think it might be a heart attack.”
“I can confirm that my father Sib passed away last night,” Hashian’s son Adam told PEOPLE. “It’s tough to lose him — he was a thoughtful guy with many friends and an amazing grandfather…”
“We in his family really appreciate the love and support that everyone has shown and we are deeply sorry for everyone’s loss,” Hashian’s son said.
Sib Hashian’s wife, Suzanne, said in a statement that funeral arrangements would be made at a later date.
