NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Wayne Self took to the track at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama this afternoon for the Fred’s 250.
However, it isn’t his driving skills that people have been talking about, it’s his truck’s decal.
Self’s Toyota Tundra sports a huge “Trump-Pence/Make America Great Again” paint scheme, and as Self told Fox & Friends, it wasn’t a sponsorship.
“This was a decision made by me, my father and the race team,” he said, adding that the decision was made “initially to gain attention to get out and vote, and how important this election is to our country.”
Self, a Trump supporter, said he drives the logo to “encourage both sides to get out and vote.”
Of his support of the New York businessman, Self said that he lamented politicians getting into office and “not do[ing] what they say they’re going to do.”
“Trump, being a successful businessman…knows what it takes to manage the country,” Self said.
