Chances are if you work for Boeing you appreciate the good pay and the great benefits that they often will offer their employees. For most people, this is a great way to raise a family and get a house in the suburbs. However, if you are nervous about getting vaccinated, you had better get ready, because it looks like Boeing is getting ready to throw a wrench into your version of the American dream.
The Boeing Company is now telling their employees that they must be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to continue working for their company. This is yet again another violation of your rights, signed, sealed, and delivered from the Boeing Company.
The Seattle Times is reporting that Boeing’s deadline for getting the shots is December 8th.
The newspaper has also exposed an internal Boeing presentation where they said that employees that refuse to comply with the mandate will “be released from the company.” While there are employees that are granted exemptions “due to a disability or a sincerely held religious belief”, they will also have to be tested frequently for COVID-19 and be ready to “present a negative test result upon request.”
All over the country, there are plenty of businesses and even political entities that are relaxing these mandates or even removing them altogether, but not Boeing. I hope these people that cannot get an exemption are ready to take a pay cut from unemployment!
This policy is going to apply to roughly 140,000 employees across the company, and there are about 57,000 of those in Washington State.
The white-collar union called the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace says that they are communicating with Boeing “to ensure implementation will give proper consideration to members’ concerns.”
We’ll see how well that works. I’m not holding my breath.
