Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam ‘had German nuclear files’

Salah Abdeslam, a prime suspect in the Paris attacks, possessed documents about a nuclear research centre in Germany, according to German newspaper reports.

The Juelich centre near the Belgium-Germany border is used for the storage of atomic waste. It said in a statement that there was no indication of any danger and that Juelich was in contact with security authorities and nuclear supervisors.

On Thursday, the RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND) media group cited sources within the parliamentary control committee, whose meetings are confidential, as saying that Hans-Georg Maaßen, the head of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency (BfV), told the nine-person committee at the end of March that Abdeslam had the documents.
